MeristemLab Tissue Culture

Tissue culture for Australia's emerging plant industries.

A plant tissue culture laboratory in Geelong. We initiate cultures, develop protocols and run small production jobs for growers, nurseries, breeders and research partners, across horticulture, native foods, forestry and conservation crops. Virus indexing and import and export support are being added.

Services

What we do

Four linked service lines across the plant tissue culture workflow. Two are available now; two are being added, and each page says which.

  • Tissue Culture

Culture initiation, multiplication and small production runs. Clean, genetically uniform material produced in vitro. Available now.

  • Plant Health

Virus indexing, disease elimination through meristem culture and heat therapy, and clean-stock production. Being added.

  • Import & Export

Phytosanitary-compliant plant movement. Tissue-cultured material suits quarantine pathways for international trade. Being added.

  • Research

Protocol development, variety trials and propagation research for industry, growers and breeders. Available now.

Industries

Crops we work with

Emerging industries first, with AgriFutures Australia's priorities and Hort Innovation levied crops as the map. Each page says why tissue culture suits the crop and what we can take on.

About

A small laboratory for crops the volume labs do not run

MeristemLab Tissue Culture is a plant tissue culture laboratory in Geelong. We work on species where clonal propagation, disease elimination or in vitro multiplication solves a real industry problem, and we keep every culture's record in MeristemLab Software, which was built in this lab.

The work spans emerging and established crops in horticulture, native foods, forestry and conservation. Tell us the species and the problem, and we will say what we can take on.
